The second bi-annual “All Classes Reunion” for All Saints’ will be on Saturday, October 29, 2011.
Registration is from 8:30 am until 10 am on the Green Hall porch. At 11 am in the chapel, we will celebrate the Eucharist and there will be service to dedicate the new All Saints’ Alumni Center and Mississippi Magnolia historical marker. Lunch will follow the services and there will be dinner and music on Bishops’ Terrace that evening. The afternoon is left open for all to visit with friends.
After ninety eight years of service, All Saints’ closed its doors with the graduating class of 2006. Since that time, the property has been leased to Americorps, an arm of NCCC, which serves the Southeast as a “domestic” Peace Corps. Americorps undertook the job of renovating the buildings on campus and making major improvements and the result is an updated and beautiful facility and campus. The All Saints’ Americorps campus is one of several around the country and is considered by the leadership of the Corporation to be the “gold standard” for all campuses.
In 2009, under the capable and energetic leadership of the Rev. John Stone Jenkins, a capital fund drive was launched with the goal of raising money to remodel the lower level of the Chapel, formerly the Canterbury Room and later the PE department, into a modern Alumni Center to honor all whose lives were touched by All Saints’. The first bi-annual “All Classes Reunion” was held in November of that year with over 600 attendees. With the leadership and vision of Fr. Jenkins and the many generous donations of alumni and friends, we reached our goal and the All Saints’ Alumni Center is now complete. A patio behind the center overlooking the Dell was constructed with brick pavers engraved with names and messages from many. We are collecting memorabilia for display along with the many artifacts left from nearly a century of educating young women and later, men.
Letters of invitation and registration forms have been sent alumni, former staff members, trustees and friends. If you have not received a registration form, it can be found on the All Saints’ web site allsaintsweb.com. You may register and pay on line. It is not too late to have a brick engraved in the patio before the October reunion. Again, at the web site, a form may be completed and the brick(s) paid for on line or a form can be mailed to you. Each brick costs $50 and the request with payment must be post marked no later than October 1, 2011 to ensure that the brick will be engraved and in place by October 29.
