“Happy are those  who find Wisdom. . .She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called happy.” Proverbs 3:13a, 18

This Women’s Retreat, “Discovering Our Mother Roots”, was held at Gray Center April 27, 28, & 29th.  Twenty-one deeply spiritual and enthusiastic women gathered and indulged in opportunities to probe the mystery of our mother origins in scripture, Christian tradition, stories of our female family tree, and our own personal stories of struggle and joy.  As these women gathered under the massive crafted tree in the living room of the Big House, they seemed to find the female roots of faith and flesh, and tapped into the feminine wisdom and maturity of God and life giver.  The experience of reclaiming the ancient line of spiritual and physical mothers led to the reconnecting of body and soul to the sources of life and more fully honored the power and gift of women as life-givers for self, family, work, community, church, and world.
