St. Pierre’s/Gautier will offer a Lay Worship Leader Workshop on September 25, 2021 with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will not be served. Coffee and snacks are available.
Four presenters are on tap for the workshop. The Rev. Dr. John Switzer, rector of St. Pierre’s, will address the history of layreaders in the church. Brother Jacob Luke, a vowed Benedictine monk with the Community of St. Joseph based in Mississippi, will give a talk about preparing to read.
As there can be obstacles to overcome with linking a service to the internet, the Rev. Tom Fanning, rector of St. John’s/Pascagoula, and the Rev. Scott Lenoir, editor of The Mississippi Episcopalian, will give advice on ways to set up an internet telecast. YouTube and Facebook and other platforms have certain requirements that must be met to successfully link a service.
This workshop counts toward lay worship leader license recertification, but all are welcomed to attend licensed by the diocese or not. A $20 fee is required to help cover the cost of the workshop that can be paid at the day of the conference.
