Skutch takes the place of the Rev. Michael Nation who held the position for several years while rector of Trinity Church, Vicksburg. Last February, Nation took a call to the Seamen’s Institute as a chaplain for the Lower Mississippi River.
This is Skutch’s second year at Christ Church. He was ordained in 2005 and came to the Diocese of Mississippi from the Diocese of Atlanta.
“Our relationship with the Mississippi United Methodist Conference will continue to be a priority,” said Skutch referring to the historic Covenant of Common Life signed by Bishop Gray III and Methodist Bishop Hope Ward in 2009.
Skutch asks that parishes and missions across the Diocese of Mississippi contact him regarding ecumenical events.
“I’m still new at this job and I’m gathering material together. It would be good to hear from others about the existing ecumenical events going on in their areas.”
